In-House Microbiology Lab


Hela Spice Canada has a well-equipped, in-house microbiology laboratory. Our fully-trained microbiologists and food scientists routinely analyze for the following: standard plate count, coliforms, E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, sporeformers, yeast and mold.


Samples of raw materials and manufactured products are tested while food contact surfaces are swabbed at well-defined intervals to verify that they are compliant with specifications and expectations. Product certificates of analyses are available for our customers providing lot-specific test results.


Our Microbiology department validates sanitation processes to ensure the highest levels of plant cleanliness and pathogen control.


An internal program reviews the proficiency of Hela Spice Canada’s in-house microbiology testing results once a month using an independent, accredited laboratory.
